Memorial Service for Dorothy Gilman

I just received this update from Jonathan Butters:
“Dear Jolene,
My family and I sincerely appreciate all the condolences and kind words expressed by you and her fans. A memorial service will be held for her on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at The Community Church of New York, 40 East 35th Street in Manhattan. Any readers of the Mrs. Pollifax Fan Blog who happen to be in the area are welcome to attend. Jonathan Butters”
If you reside in the area we hope you can attend. And we hope you will share the experience with the rest of her fans who are not able. I will really miss all the new stories that Dorothy Gilman Butters could have shared with us and I wish I could come up with an appropriate saying that would ease the pain of her children and grandchildren. I, for one, will pause in whatever I am doing at that time and offer a moment of silence in honor of this great writer, mother and artist.
Sad News

I am sorry to let you know that my mother, Dorothy Gilman, passed away this morning at the age of 88. She had been suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease for the past nine years so her death is both sad and a relief. She appreciated the kind work you have done to provide information and a forum for her fans. Take care and feel free to pass this information along as you see fit. Jonathan Butters
We wish to express our sincerest regret to Jonathan and the rest of his family for this tremendous loss. All of us will cherish her writings and miss her style.

Happy Birthday Dorothy Gilman
Published June 24, 2011 | Hey Everybody,Today is Dorothy Gilman’s Birthday! As fans we would like to wish her a very happy one and wish her many more. She has written over 40 books throughout the years that have entertained and delighted all of her fans. We have been introduced to a host of great characters not the least of which is Mrs Pollifax, Spy and Grandmother. There is not one fan that has not been touched by her stories. Even though she has not published a new story since 2002 we still remember her in our thoughts and re-read her books.
We all hope you have a great and wonderful day.

Dorothy Gilman Appearing Soon
Published March 10, 2010 | Hey Guys the the 2010 Edgar Awards is fast approaching. If you haven’t heard yet, Dorothy Gilman has been chosen as the Grand Master for the 2010 Edgar Awards and will be at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York City for the ceremonies between April 27th to April 29th. The tickets are $175 a person and can still be bought online through their website at: the Edgar Awards. Here is the blurp from their website….

Welcome to the New Mrs Pollifax Site
