For those who have recently tried to view the website within the last week or so you may have gotten the message that the account was suspended.  That was my fault folks due to recent financial setbacks and the holidays I forgot to include the fee for hosting the blog.  I have been paying for this blog for about 7 years now and have enjoyed keeping it going but I need help now and hope you will help me if you can.

I am asking for $1.00 donations through the secure servers at Paypal from members who are able and willing to contribute to keeping this blog going. You can of course send any amount you wish and in any monies that Paypal accepts and they will convert it to US dollars.

We are also still looking for contributors who would like to post their own essays so please use the contact form and give me your subscriber ID and I will make you a contributor.  This allows you to make posts to the blog, upload pictures and post your own stories.

We have some very interesting things plan for the coming months for our fellow fans and look forward to hearing from you.  Have a safe and happy holiday!

Just got an email from JB with some very exciting news.  DOROTHY GILMAN HAS BEEN CHOSEN TO BE THE GRAND MASTER AT THE 2010 MYSTERY WRITERS AWARDS!  How about that for some exciting news?!?!?

Sadly, there are only two of Dorothy Gilman’s Books that are currently in Ebook form and they are offered by Barnes and Noble.  You will need to install their free ebook reader and they can be used on iPhone/iPod touch, Blackberry, PC or Mac from their website.

The first one is for Mrs. Pollifax Unveiled which is the last book in the Mrs. Pollifax books to be released. This story finds our favorite heroine being sent to the desert with her old friend John Farrell to try and find an American Tourist who averts a plane being hijacked and then promptly disappears! You can click on the picture below and be taken to the Barnes and Noble website for each of these books.

The second book available on the Barnes and Noble website in ebook form is the very last book published by our favorite author called Kaleidoscope. This is a continuing tale of the fun and exciting adventures of Madam Karitska and her friend from the police Detective Lieutenant Pruden.

Remember you can request that each of the Dorothy Gilman Books be placed in Kindle format by going to each page with the book and on the left side of the screen you should see a box that says something about requesting that this title be added to the Kindle line.

We are trying something new for this site.  Even though we don’t have a lot of postings you will be able to get this site on your mobile phone webpage.  I am just learning this new thing and there will be some bumps in the road and we appreaciate your patience.    Some things are working fine and other things not so well.

We are still looking for contributors and those who have signed up for it are still more than welcome to post new entries.  Anybody out there who has any news about our favorite author?  How about pictures or even a fun story to tell?  Anybody want to do a review of one of her books?  How about writing a new short story with one of your favorite characters?

Hey Gang. We are getting a pretty good response from those who want to be contributors. I have added a Sign-on Widget to the top Right Hand Corner of the page. All subscribers can make comments on posts and all contributors can make new posts and upload pictures.

Just remember to stay on topic and keep the language rated “G” as this is a family website.

I Finally got a response to the Cherry Lawn website that has yearbook pictures. Yes, Dorothy Gilman taught at the Cherry Lawn School and she is in one of the Yearbooks. However, her name is not attached to the photo and we think it is this one:

Hello Dorothy Gilman Fans! We had to migrate the site to a new webserver the past 10 days. We apologize for the site being unavailable during this time. However, we believe that this new server will serve us and our other subscribers with increased support and more flexibility when adding new features to the blog. The server is secure and should allow us to be more respondent to future requests.

The bad news is that we lost all the subscriber information. I will be sending out a newsletter to all those who have sent in emails, signed the guestbook and who made comments in any of the posts.

Just remember due to the increasing problem with hackers and spammers only those who have subscribed to the blog are allowed to make comments. Subscribing is very easy in that you just click on one of the posts, click make a comment and the system will walk you through the quick registration process. Once you have registered you can email me if you would like to become a contributor or author to the blog and I will reset your settings. (jolene.macfadden@mrspollifax.com)  Any author or contributor will be able to add new posts (subject to my approval), upload pictures and link videos from u-tube and the like that may be relevant to our author, her characters, etc. The last advantage of becoming an subscriber is that I can send out emails with new updates to the site whenever they happen as well as any news about the author, bargains on her books, where the two movies can be seen and whatever else that may be pertinent to her many fans around the world.

You can still sign the guestbook without becoming a subscriber and if you are familiar with “feeds” our subscribe to the blog button is finally working. If you get daily news updates or have subscribed to any other blogs you will find the process easy to do and you will see any new posts every time you sign-in to your Yahoo desktop, AOL desktop, Google Desktop and whatever other place you have setup for that purpose.

Again, we apologize for the downtime and our inability to bring over our subscribers and hope you will rejoin us once again. Thanks for your patience and we look forward to your comments, Guestbook messages and emails.

Please feel free to make comments on any of the posts. Wordpress requires that all commenters go through a quick registration process and they immediately email you a password. You should be able to change this password once you sign on for the first time. This serves two purposes, one it cuts down on spammers who send junk to posts and two with a user name and email address I can make you a contributor or author AND that allows you to add stuff to the site and I can email anyone registered when there is exciting news. You can also subscribe to the site without registering with this site through the RSS button. This will give you updates as they happen. WE are just starting out on our blogging journey and hope to have everyone who wants to participate be given the opportunity.

Thanks to those who have started posting in the Guestbook area. Email me with your suggestions or questions and I will try to answer them. I hope to be able to include a forum as soon as I figure out how to add that service. As I stated in the Welcome post this type of website gives us more control over the content as well as the look of the site with the least amount of hassle.

Feel Free to browse around and as I stated in the first entry I will be adding content as I come across it as well as having some things available for download from the old site as well.

Hey Everyone! This theme includes and about me page so I thought I would fill in a little bit about me the creator of the Mrs Pollifax Fan Blog. I started the website about 7 years ago. I am a great fan of Dorothy Gilman and have read all of her books. I also love to work with computers and to create websites. I have changed the design of the site several times over the years because I get bored with the way things look and hope that the readers of the website appreciate a new look every now and then. With this type of format I will be able to change the look of the site as often as I want without having to retype and upload everything. The other great thing is I hope to be able to stay in touch with all of my fellow fans as well.

I probably will not be creating any more newsletters as they are very time consuming however, if you would PLEASE sign on as a subscriber I will be able to email everyone at once about changes and new posts in the blog. AND if you want to contribute new posts to the blog for commenting just subscribe and then email me so I can change your subscribers status to contributor.

I hope to encourage the other fans out there to submit their own story ideas about what happens next to the great characters that Dorothy Gilman created as well as any fan art, poems, limericks or whatever. We just ask that you keep it rated “G” as are all the writings of our favorite author. If you have any pictures to upload let me know as I am still learning about Wordpress Blogs.
