I have tried to get at least one copy of every single book that Ms. Gilman has written and I thought for sure I had this one too but for the life of me I cannot remember it. Oh well, I will just have to go into my storage until and find my collection to make sure. It would be really nice if we could get all of the books in eBook format and hopefully, one way or another, we will get them all converted over soon. I mean converting them to digital format will make it so much easier for them to be converted into other languages. Just wanted to put that thought out there.

Again, why gathering information from old newspapers to try and beef up the biography page or possible even get enough material to write an actual biographical book we came across one article that was posted in the Berkshire Eagle out of Pittsfield, Massachuetts dated August 3, 1956:<\/p>\n

A story for girls based on the life of a white girl and her brother living with the Indians near Pontoosuc Lake in 1703, is being published this month by Macrae-Smith.<\/p>\n

The author, Dorothy Gilman Butters, knows well the area which she writes for she live at Pontoosuc Lodge in her own girlhood. The daughter of Rev. and Mrs. J. Bruce Gilman, Mrs. Butters writes knowingly of the “Housatunnick Valley” that “green pocket between the Taconic Range and the Hoosac Mountains.”<\/p>\n

Mrs. Butters writes vividly and interestingly and, because of its local angle, “Girl in Buckskin” should appeal to adults as well as to the teen-age audience to which it’s aimed. This is Mrs. Butters’ fifth book for girls.<\/em><\/p>\n

Pretty cool. Anybody out there read this one?<\/p>\n
