It seems strange to me that there have only been one in-depth newspaper interview done on Dorothy Gilman throughout her lifetime. That one was published in 1990. It was shared through the AP-Wire system across the country over the next several weeks. When you do research online you get a slightly different version of the same article on various news outlets across the country. A few of them even cut the article in half. <\/p>\n

I do understand though. Now-a-days you can create an article online and the other newspapers can just add a summary and a link to the original article. We also have access to hi-resolution photographs to post online which appeals to all of us who love color and sharp pictures with great details. <\/p>\n

The full article is quite extensive and is a great read for both her fans and even other authors to gain a little bit of writing wisdom. If you have read a magazine article about Dorothy Gilman or know of any other newspaper Author Profiles of our favorite writer please let me know. I would be happy to seek them out and get a copy for the rest of the fans to share.<\/p>\n

Republishing the Remaining Children’s Books Has Been Cancelled<\/h3>\n

We are sad to announce that the republication of the remaining books (Children’s\/Young Adult) of Dorothy Gilman Butters has been cancelled. The first two books were considered, more or less, in the public domain. They were not renewed along with the rest of the books published up to the late 1970s. The family and I were able to convert them over and have them published with no problems. <\/p>\n

However, in order to republished the remaining books they would need to arrange for two lawyers. One for a Family Trust and another for a specific publishing contract. As it stands now they need to create the Family trust for the copyrights; pay to have them transferred to the trust; and then create a contract between my company<\/a> and the trust giving permission to republish each book. Each Indie Publishing company I contacted stated we had to have an official contract uploaded to their website. **NOTE FOR ANY OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS OF AUTHORS OUT THERE** <\/p>\n

Reach Out to Her Book Agent<\/h3>\n

The process and expense of the project did not match up with the projected sales that we have gotten so far from the first two books. However, I am a firm believer that when enough devoted fans get together and wish to be heard we can convince someone to help us get this done. I will continue to post updates and new information along the way but the rest of her fans will need to contact her agent to get this next project back up and running. I am not sure who is in charge of Ms. Gilman’s account but the Contact page lists all the members and their email addresses. SO, call the office, write them a letter, and\/or send them emails!<\/p>\n
