Changes and Housecleaning Details

We have made some changes to the website and there are a couple of Housecleaning details you need to be aware of. First of all, we have changed around the pages to have the Dorothy Gilman Bio as the home page now. There is just not enough news or updates or articles I can write to have the Blog pages as the main page. Second, we are slowly fixing the grammatical errors and spacing on some of the pages so please be patient. Third, I have noticed on this and my other sites when you log in using the side Log-In box it seems as if you haven’t been accepted. However, if you will just click on any tab at the top you will see that your log-in has been accepted and you will have the option of going to your Dashboard. Unless, you get an error message you are probably logged in and ready to be able to comment.


A word about spammers. We have decided to keep the Guestbook page up for a little while longer even though we have gotten only messages from spammers lately. I read through all of the Guestbook posts about once a month or so and delete any that do not have any relation to this blog. I am having this problem with my other sites as well and have deleted that function altogether. I didn’t want to do that on this site due to its age and because of all the posts from actual fans. So be aware that if you do post something on the Guestbook Page please make it related to Dorothy Gilman, Mrs. Pollifax or one of her other characters. If the message just says that this is a terrific website it will be deleted.

We have added an upload file feature on the Contact page for anyone who wishes to send me pictures of Dorothy Gilman, artist renderings of various characters, or stories about the author, her characters, or suggestions of where the characters can go next. We would love to receive some short stories from her fans. It would be really nice to start a Fan-Fiction page for everyone to read. And a fuller biography with more pictures would be really great as well.

Lastly, we have done some upgrades on the FORUM pages. We have created several starter topics and have posted initial responses to each. The forum seems to attract quite a few spammers for some reason and I get about 20 to 30 new user notifications a day. But because I have a spam filter check and require that ALL subscribers to be approved before they can begin posting I am trying to catch most of them. I am now requiring anyone who is approved to go through the verification process before they can actually join. That may seem like a lot of trouble but I think it will be worth it in the end. For all the TRUE Dorothy Gilman/Mrs. Pollifax fans in the world we want a place we can post our comments, discuss her various works and share our ideas about where the characters can go next. Ms. Gilman may not be with us anymore but all of her fans still love her stories and her characters. Go to the Forum Page and check it out. It is really shaping up.
