Happy Holidays and Fan Questions-Updated

Happy Holidays and Fan Questions-Updated

Happy Holidays to all my fellow Dorothy Gilman Fans out there. May you and your family have a happy and safe holiday season this year!

We haven’t been getting a whole lot of comments or emails from fans these last couple of weeks but more than we have gotten in the previous year so we are very happy about that. It is so nice to hear from other fans of our favorite author even though I may not be able to answer your questions another fan might be. So please, keep them coming.

Latest Emails:

Subject: Dorothy Gilman original watercolor art

Comment: Do you or any of Ms. Gilman’s fans have any information about original art she may have done during her life? I have 2 original watercolors signed “Dorothy Gilman” in block letters. They are pictures of women (possibly Victorian based on the high neck clothing) wearing hats. The hats and jewelry that these ladies are wearing are made from actual feathers, lace, and colored beads.

I would be interested in any information that you or the followers of your site might have regarding this art. Thank you.

Regards,
Tom Young

I, personally, did not know if Mrs. Gilman was a painter as well as a writer. So, if any of our fellow fans out there have any information and would like to share please use the comments section below.

SUBJECT: Sorrow Rides a Fast Horse

COMMENT: Do you know whether this story has ever been made into a film? And if so, where I can access it?

Thanks,

Dr. W

While I don’t believe they have ever made a movie based on the story, “Sorrow Rides a Fast Horse”, written and published in a magazine by Dorothy Gilman it does sound like an intriguing idea. What about it my fellow fans? Anyone with information about this please comment below.

Until next time! Keep those letters coming and post comments too.

******Update on this post*******

It seems that our Comment Section below doesn’t allow for uploading pictures. Here are the pictures mentioned in the email from Mr. Young above. If you have any information about the painting, please comment below.

  1. Regarding the question by Mr. Young, Ms. Gilman (my mother), after high school, did attend the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia. In my biased opinion, she was quite talented and was awarded a Cresson Traveling Scholarship for her work. While she did some art work at various times in her life, her true love was her writing. While I did not see all of her artwork, the piece displayed by Mr. Young does not look to me like the type of work she typically did.

    1. Thanks for your reply and if you would ever like to share some of her artwork we would all love to see it.
